Educating the next generation about the important work undertaken at the Dalmuir wastewater treatment plant is a critical part of our social and environmental agenda. We aim to inform as many people as possible about the essential work performed here on behalf of the local community.
CrossReach is a Church of Scotland social care charity based in Erskine which offers care and support to people of all ages in need of a helping hand, supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. We were delighted to welcome eight students and five teachers to the site to receive the VIP treatment as we showed them around our facilities.
The students were excited to wear their PPE and after a safety briefing, went on site to see for themselves the process and management of the complete water system. Plant Director Angele Tejeiro was very pleased to show them around. "All the children were excited and interested to see the process, from the huge tanks and equipment, to the presentations which showed more closely what happens. We love welcoming children to the site and this event was fun for us as well as our visitors. It’s a good reminder that the work we do here, while often unsung and away from view, plays a vital part in the health and wellbeing of us all."
The presentations were followed by lunch and plenty of questions. Accompanying the students, Sarah from CrossReach said "we were all really curious to know what goes on here and the team at Saur organised a great day. It’s certainly something we will all remember for a long time to come."
